Symptoms of Varicose Veins

Varicose veins can cause aching pain in the legs. People with varicose veins report their legs often get easily tired and are swollen and heavy-feeling. These symptoms usually get worse throughout the day. Many people find they need to sit down in the afternoon and elevate their legs to relive the symptoms. These symptoms may be present even when varicose veins are not visible. The symptoms are caused by pressure on nerves by dilated veins.

Severe varicose veins can compromise the nutrition of the skin and lead to eczema, inflammation, or even ulceration of the lower leg.
